Makes 1 standart tart


200g butter, softened
90g castor sugar
5ml vanilla extract
2 Large eggs
110g maize meal
30g self raising flour
70g ground almonds
4 Jazz™ Apples


  1. Preheat the oven to 180c, and grease a 25cm fluted tart tin.
  2. Cream together butter and castor sugar until light and pale.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs, then continue to whip until well-creamed with the butter.
  4. Add Maize meal, self-raising flour, and almonds, then mix until just combined.
  5. Transfer batter to the lined tin and spread evenly.
  6. Core and slice apples, then arrange them on top of the tart.
  7. Place into the oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the tart is set and the apples are golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, and cool before unmoulding.
  9. Dust with icing sugar before serving (optional)
