The next Food Waste Action Week takes place on the 7-13 March and is a fantastic initiative that encourages everyone to understand the true value of food and really think about how much food they are wasting. Food waste has a huge impact on our environment and contributes to climate change so it’s time everyone took more notice of the food they throw away each week.
There are many simple steps you can take at home to reduce your food waste such as:
• Planning your meals and portions
• Keeping an eye on the temperature of your fridge
• Knowing the difference between ‘use by’ and ‘best before’
• Trying to eat every edible part of each ingredient
• Always using up leftovers or freezing what you don’t eat
• Frequently checking date labels
