We’re thrilled to announce that two new JAZZ™ Apple Foundation awards were handed out recently to two very deserving causes.
First up to receive an award was Accuro, a local charity supporting people with a disability in West Essex by providing a wide range of social and leisure activities. Accuro is a place for disability empowerment and their projects aim to reduce social isolation and increase the confidence, independence, and self-esteem of local people with a disability. The charity was given an award to help with the costs of their Sports Skills Development Packs, which are used at multiple venues during their holiday scheme during the school holidays, and we couldn’t be happier to be of assistance for such a great initiative.
Secondly, the JAZZ™ Apple Foundation also supported dual-sport athlete Sarah Hope, who recently travelled to the USA to compete with the GB Para Ice Hockey Team. After retiring from the GB wheelchair basketball team last year after a successful career spanning over five years, Sarah’s sporting goals are now based around supporting the next generation of athletes and getting women’s para ice hockey recognised as its own sport at the Winter Paralympic Games. Sarah’s been training with the GB team since October 2021 and their first real test came when they travelled to the USA for a tournament in Wisconsin in August. As Sarah and the team are self-funded, the JAZZ™ Apple Foundation was happy to help with funds to help cover some of the travel and accommodation costs for the trip.
We’re excited to see how both Accuro and Sarah get on in the future so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more news on them both and our other JAZZ™ Apple Foundation award winners in our newsletter and on our social media pages.
