With the UK harvest approaching and the apples almost ready to be picked from their trees, JAZZ™ received a pre-season boost after recent Kantar data revealed that the variety, which last year overtook Cox as the fifth most popular in the UK, hit a retail high value of over £50million.
The new stats showed that consumer spend on the brand rose to £50.179million in the 52 weeks ending August 12 2018, an increase of 13% in the last year. The news is a timely boost with the UK JAZZ™ Apple season due to commence in a few months and the announcement earlier in the year of plans to plant an extra 250,000 trees by 2021.
To coincide with the start of the new season we will be exhibiting at the winter BBC Good Food Show at Birmingham’s NEC to give consumers a first taste of the new crop. With record high temperatures across most of the UK this year it’s been a challenging time for growers but whispers from the orchard are talking of a bumper crop so we can’t wait to share this season’s tasty specimens with you.
