Taking place on the 1st and 2nd November, the National Fruit Show has been dedicated to showcasing the best of British fruit for over 90 years. This year, JAZZ™ Apple stole the show, winning the top awards.
It’s a great start to the British Season, with Simon Bray’s JAZZ™ Apples grown at Monks Farm in Kent, scooping the ‘UK’s Tastiest Apple’ title once more.
The victory for JAZZ™ Apple means that the brand has now won the title eight times in the last ten years. JAZZ™ Apples grown by Clock House Farm also collected third prize in this category.
It was a fantastic day of awards for JAZZ™ Apples, with John Bray also winning Best In Show with his JAZZ™ Apples.
Simon Bray’s Monks Farm is third-generation, starting in the 1920s, moving to apple orchards in the 60s. Monks Farm had its first commercial JAZZ™ trees planted in 2006, with six hectares now planted, making it the farm’s second main variety.
Commenting on the triumph, Simon Bray, said:
“I was amongst the first UK growers to plant JAZZ™ trees so it’s great to win this award. Credit has to go to my team as they have worked their socks off but JAZZ™ has all the attributes a fruit
grower wants so it’s a pleasure to grow. When it comes to taste, it’s juicy and tangy so there’s no doubt it’s a winner and no surprise that its popularity grows year on year, as do the number of trophies it wins!”
