We personally live the JAZZ™ lifestyle in many ways – kayaking, swimming, hiking or biking, just to name a few. We also enjoy providing the #jazzsensation to others and are especially passionate about child nutrition and expanding their access to fresh fruits and vegetables of all kinds. So, when an opportunity arose to combine our active lifestyle with a personal passion and terrific cause, we were ALL IN.
The Tour de Fresh is a three-day charity cycling event that is organized and supported by the fresh produce industry and benefits the Salad Bars to Schools initiative, providing salad bars to schools across the US. We were proud to be a premier sponsor and the official nutrition stop sponsor of this year’s ride up the central coast of California in July. But our support didn’t stop there.
Two of this year’s 50+ riders were JAZZ™ enthusiasts, Karin G. and Chris F. from Oppy, a great partner in getting our apples into the supermarkets where you shop. Decked out in custom JAZZ™ jerseys, the duo pedaled nearly 200 miles and climbed over 14,000 grueling feet to raise funds for two salad bars, one to be donated to the New England Public School in New England, ND, which is not far from where Karin lives.
In addition to supporting an amazing cause, the Tour also provides a unique opportunity for the fresh produce professionals who ride to network and build friendships with people from across the industry. Chris and Karin excitedly reported that they and their 50+ new friends were not only energized by the always refreshing, tangy crunch of JAZZ™ apples throughout the Tour, but were also completely converted and loyal fans of JAZZ™ – the apple AND the sensation!
Tour de Fresh riders are still accepting donations through the end of August 2017, but have already raised over $165,000 which is enough to fund more than 50 salad bars.
