Meet Deepa and Maurice; two integral members of the T&G family. They are both part of the T&G Global orchard management team who grow our JAZZ™ apples across the East Coast of the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. Together, they have over 16 years of experience nurturing JAZZ™ orchards to produce the famous sweet and tangy apple.

Both Maurice and Deepa love living in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay. With hot sunny days and cooler nights, it’s not just the ideal climate to live in but also for growing JAZZ™.

PHILIP GREER

Willowford Alma Alta Orchard, Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND

Phil and Kirsty Greer run a 40 hectare apple orchard in the Hawkes Bay, NZ. When Phil first tasted JAZZ he knew it was going to be a winner and over the years has converted 3/4 of his orchard to Jazz trees.

The Greers have 6 children who have all worked in the orchard at some point – picking, thinning, tractor driving, in their school or university holidays. “It’s a wonderful environment to raise your children; being surrounded by a strong community of growers that support each other like family.”

DUTOIT AGRI

Ceres, SOUTH AFRICA

Dutoit Agri has been growing apples since 1922 with 4500 hectares of orchards located in Ceres, the Koue Bokkeveld and Witzenberg Valley in the Western Cape. Growing conditions in these cool, high valleys are perfect for apples. The cool mountain air slows down the ripening process which allows for intense colours, flavours and aromas to develop. This combined with the clean, pure mountain water used in the orchards ensures the highest quality JAZZ™ apples.

TRAVIS ALLAN

Allan Brothers Fruit, Naches, Washington, USA

Now growing JAZZ™ on 140 acres spanning Washington’s Yakima Valley and Columbia Basin, Allan Brothers Fruit, Inc. was among the first to plant trees in U.S. soil in the early 2000s. Travis Allan, a fourth-generation grower-owner, began managing the family orchards of this JAZZ™ apple pioneer upon returning from college.

“We think that JAZZ is an extraordinary apple, with an exceptional taste, a good sweet/tart balance and sensational crunch,” he enthused.

He says the growing area’s rich soil, abundance of irrigated water, warm weather during the season and cool nights—which bring on color and flavour prior to harvest—is the best recipe for producing sensational JAZZ™.

ROMAIN TESSIER

Romain Tessier is 5th generation and his extensive knowledge and passion for apple growing makes him really proud of growing JAZZ™ apples. The daily care and dedication in growing the best possible apples for consumers around the world to enjoy.

“I grow JAZZ™ apples because of their great eating qualities, their crunchiness and their huge storability.

The ‘fruit’ of our work is truly valuable. People love those apples. When I bring JAZZ™ apples to my relatives their reaction is always the same: once they have tried them, they would never have another basic apple for their own consumption.”

JEREMY LINSELL

Braiseworth, North Suffolk, UNITED KINGDOM

For nearly a quarter of a Century, Jeremy Linsell has been growing apples. Jeremy’s Grandfather had an orchard on his farm so orcharding is in his blood. Jeremy’s 22 hectare orchard is in the tiny parish of Braiseworth, near the town of Eye in North Suffolk.

“It was an easy decision to begin growing JAZZ™ 11 years ago. JAZZ™ has fantastic eating experience, reliability and an ability to store well. It’s hard work to ensure the thinning, pruning and nutrition of the trees are done to a very high standard. But it’s all worth it to make sure our customers are receiving apples of a fantastic eating experience. Those hard hours of care and attention are all worth it when you hear the positive feedback when someone tastes their first JAZZ™. I’m yet to hear anything negative.”

PAUL HÖLZL
